'Commonwealth of Australia', one of the streamlined A4 Class locomotives created by Sir Nigel Gresley, entered service on June 22, 1937, and served under both the Grouping and Nationalisation eras. The locomotive originally bore the LNER number 4491, before being renumbered to No. 12 and then 60012 under British Railways. After 27 years of service, 'Commonwealth of Australia' was ultimately withdrawn on August 20, 1964.
