HORNBY R60188 3 Plank Wagon, LMS - Era 3 Freight Wagons

The open wagon was one of the most ubiquitous types of wagon ever to see service in the UK. Regardless of their size, these wagons could be spotted almost anywhere, from individual wagons being moved by small tank engines to large rakes being hauled behind some of the largest tender engines of the day. Largely unspecified, the wagons would carry any cargo that did not require protection from the elements. As time progressed and rolling stock developed, the general-use wagon's usage became more limited, with wagons specifically designed around their cargo beginning to supersede the standard open wagon through the 1940s and 1950s.

This three-plank wagon is typical of the kind used by the LMS, representing one of the smaller capacity wagons that could often be seen loaded with cargo. The open wagon is fitted with NEM couplings and metal wheels, allowing it to roll freely and enabling wagons to be run in long rakes behind even small locomotives tasked with hauling them. The wagon also has internal plank detailing, and a load need not be fitted if desired.

The 1:76 scale 00 gauge plank wagon is an LMS Bauxite-liveried model with a minimum curve (mm) radius of 2 and fixed metal buffers. The coupling type is NEM tension lock. The item length without packaging is 7.1 cm, the height is 2.5 cm, and the width is 3.5 cm.
